Getting Started with your Studies

Welcome to University!

Starting your degree marks the beginning of a new chapter, one that many look back on as one of the most exciting and rewarding times of their lives. At the same time, the first few weeks can be challenging: a new city, new people, a large campus, and the need to organize your studies independently.

The departments within the faculty offer a wide range of support services to help first-year students settle in and get off to a strong start.

A key point of contact and a peer support network for all questions about studying and university life are the student councils (Fachschaften/Institutsgruppen). You can find more information here.

At the beginning of each semester, all departments of the faculty offer orientation events as well as ongoing guidance and academic advising.
