Course content and focus areas
The MSc in Biochemistry at Goethe University Frankfurt builds on our long-standing tradition in biomolecular research and education. It covers organismic, cellular, and molecular biochemistry, membrane proteins, structural biology, and biophysical chemistry. A key feature of the program is its flexibility: students can tailor their course of study to their personal interests and career goals by selecting only the modules that truly interest them. The MSc in Biochemistry is organized in close collaboration with the local research community, including the Max Planck Institute for Biophysics, the Paul Ehrlich Institute, and the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, and Medicine. The program’s objective is to equip candidates with the scientific knowledge and professional skills needed to work as independent researchers. Our graduates are well-prepared to pursue a doctorate and to embark on an (academic) career at a university, a research institute, or in diverse fields such as the chemical/pharmaceutical industry, government agencies, corporate management, marketing, publishing, or consultation.
