Excellent Teaching
The CHE regularly surveys students at universities across Germany and compiles rankings on the quality of teaching. Geography in Frankfurt consistently performs exceptionally well: the undergraduate program was recently ranked in the top group, an achievement shared by only five (out of 40) other institutions in Germany. Our central goal is to guide students toward a critical and reflective perspective on the world, rooted in geography. Reflecting the size of the Geography Department in Frankfurt, the range of courses offered is extensive: an undergraduate program with two different degree options, as well as two master’s programs that provide excellent opportunities for bachelor’s graduates to pursue advanced studies.

Practical Career Preparation
Our undergraduate program is designed to provide the best foundation for pursuing a master’s degree. To this end, we emphasize early specialization after the first academic year and project-based learning, offering students the opportunity to gain research experience during their undergraduate studies. Beyond this, we place great importance on ensuring that students are well-prepared for the job market even after completing their bachelor’s degree. For this reason, we integrate alumni into the program—former geography students who now hold leadership positions in key fields such as urban and regional planning, economic development, real estate and property management, mobility services, and management consultancy, to name just a few examples from human geography. In the realm of physical geography, alumni work in areas such as soil and nature conservation, landscape, land use, and environmental planning, geomanagement, or the development and implementation of environmental management and monitoring systems.
