An academic degree in the field of history does not lead to a single established profession but qualifies graduates for a wide range of professional fields.
The course of study prepares students for professional activities in two main ways: first, for the specific work of historians at universities, continuing education institutions, archives, museums, and other cultural organizations; and second, for professional fields where historians, like other cultural and humanities scholars, are employed—particularly in media-related areas such as publishing or journalism, as well as in public relations, management consultancy, cultural or information management. To support these career paths, the history program continuously develops key skills, including working with texts in foreign languages, conducting literature searches across various media, written, oral, and visual presentation techniques, analyzing complex issues, operationalizing research questions, and critically reflecting on contemporary cultural topics from a historical perspective, among others.
