Course content and focus areas
The degree program “International Master Audiovisual and Cinema Studies” offers research-oriented postgraduate studies and serves as an academic qualification for graduates of film and media studies, philology, art and music studies, and philosophy degree programs both domestically and internationally.
The course provides in-depth knowledge of the history and theory of film and audiovisual media, along with the skills to reflect on current aesthetic issues, conduct competent analyses of texts and formats in audiovisual media, and carry out independent research work (doctoral studies).
In close collaboration with the University Paris 3-Sorbonne Nouvelle, University Paris Nanterre, University of Liège, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore Milan, University of Udine, Birkbeck College – University of London, University of St. Andrews, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, Ruhr University Bochum, Universitat Pompeu Fabra-Barcelona, Université Charles de Gaulle Lille 3, Université de Montréal, Concordia University, Università degli Studi Roma 3, Università Ca’ Foscari Venice, Stockholm University, Universidade Federal de Ruiz de Fora, and the University of Amsterdam, the master’s degree is awarded upon successful completion of a cohesive two-year (four-semester) course of study and the examinations required by the study and examination regulations of the listed universities and these statutes.
