The bachelor's program in Korean Studies as a minor provides the following fundamental knowledge and skills:
- Knowledge of modern Korean standard language;
- Understanding of the political, social, economic, and cultural structures of modern Korea, as well as their historical principles;
- Knowledge of intercultural communication;
- Familiarity with the fundamentals of academic work and competencies in the procurement, analysis, evaluation, preparation, and presentation of Korea-related data and information;
- Knowledge of the history of Korean Studies as a field and the ability to critically and reflectively engage with Korea-related data, sources, texts, and methods.
- The program also teaches specialized techniques and methods:
- Addressing specific cultural, political, and social issues from the history and present of North and South Korea;
- Korean communication and language culture, as well as methods in society and culture studies with reference to Korea, theory and practice of inter- and transcultural communication
