Career Opportunities
The course in Ancient Near Eastern Philology primarily prepares students for roles in teaching and research at universities, research tasks at comparable institutions, or careers in museums. However, pursuing a philological profession in the academic field is generally only possible after earning a master’s degree.
The curriculum also includes opportunities to acquire additional qualifications and skills that, when combined with an appropriate major subject and/or additional training, can help open up career paths outside of academic professions. Potential options in this context include areas such as media and communication, publishing, cultural and education policy, work with development aid organizations in Middle Eastern countries (NGOs), and tourism.
