The Art program is designed to prepare students for academically and artistically grounded art education practices in teaching at middle schools, secondary schools, and special education schools. Throughout the program, students develop creative skills in working with a variety of artistic and cultural media, gain authentic art experiences, and cultivate their own unique ways of perceiving and expressing ideas. The educational approach of aesthetic learning equips them to teach both interdisciplinary lessons and subject-specific classes. Through academically and methodologically reflective studies in art education, students acquire the foundation for professional art teaching practices. The academic, educational, and practical components of the program align with the competencies outlined in § 1 of the Hessian Teacher Training Act Implementation Regulation (HLbG-UVO). Course offerings in academic, practical, and educational studies are closely interconnected in content.
