Prof. Dr. Stefanie Dimmeler has been awarded the Cross of Merit, First Class, of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, one of the country’s highest civilian orders. The biologist and biochemist received the award certificate from Hesse’s Minister President, Boris Rhein, during a ceremony in Wiesbaden on July 13.

The Senate of Goethe University has adopted a new set of framework regulations governing the university’s degree programs. Approved on Wednesday, the revised regulations are designed to further enhance study conditions by promoting flexibility, transparency and equal opportunities, while taking into account the distinct cultures and structures of different disciplines. 

Cultural anthropologist and folklorist Prof. Hande Birkalan-Gedik and biodiversity and global health researcher Dr. Ulrich Kuch recognized for strengthening academic freedom, international cooperation and dialogue in challenging contexts.

An international clinical study funded by the EU is investigating whether recurrent urinary tract infections can be prevented through phage therapy followed by restoration of the gut microbiota.
