Bonald Perkola is a Research Fellow at the Chair of "Methods of Qualitative Empirical Social Research" at Goethe University Frankfurt, where he works on the YouReACT project. The project investigates youth democratic participation and civic engagement in remote and rural areas of Germany, aiming to understand the factors that shape political attitudes and behaviors among young people in structurally disadvantaged regions.
He holds a Master's degree in Political Science from Goethe University Frankfurt. His academic background is rooted in a cross-national comparative perspective, with a regional focus on Germany, Italy, and especially Southeastern Europe. In his studies, he has concentrated on issues of populism and democracy backsliding in the region.
At Goethe University, Perkola contributes both administratively and academically. He supports students in navigating their Bachelor's and Master's final exams and teaches the methodological course "Research Application: Western Balkans", which explores the practical application of qualitative research methods in the context of the region.
As a member of Prof. Wagemann's team, he is also involved in the German-Italian Centre for European Dialogue “Villa Vigoni," where he manages a variety of organizational responsibilities.
