Transcript of Records for guest students:
Guest/exchange students who require an official transcript of records of their academic achievements at the end of their stay in Frankfurt can have this issued by following the steps below.Steps to create the Transcript of Records:
The following steps are only available in the workflow (Mobility-Online) after the end of the lecture period - usually at the end of July (summer semester) or the end of February (winter semester):
Important notes:
ECTS / Credit Points (CP)
ECTS/Credit Points (CP) can only be included in your Transcript of Records if they are clearly indicated on the certificate by the lecturer or departmental coordinator.
Please make sure that the number of ECTS/CP is explicitly stated on the certificate. The Global Office is not authorized to assign credit points - this can only be done by the respective department or faculty.
If your department/faculty at Goethe University issues your Transcript of Records directly, you do not need to have the document signed by the Global Office.
If you require a grade for a course to be included in your Transcript of Records, you must obtain a certificate of completion ("Leistungsschein").
Please note:The certificate must:
Important:
We only accept certificates that are sent directly to the Global Office by the lecturer or departmental coordinator. Certificates forwarded by students will not be accepted.
Certificate of Attendance ("Teilnahmeschein")
Certificate of attendance are usually not graded and do not require exams or written assignments.
As a guest student, you should inform the lecturer at the beginning of the semester that you are attending the course and will require a certificate of attendance.
Please note:
Certificates of attendance must also be sent directly to the Global Office by the lecturer or departmental coordinator.
Please make sure that the faculty/department does not issue the regular certificates for students at Goethe University for you, as those certificates do not include the necessary information for the issuance of the Transcript of Records. Please submit the Course Certificate for Temporary Students (proof of participation for exchange students) to your lecturers.
Attendance Certificates
Certificates of attendance are generated via Mobility-Online and automatically sent to your home university. You will also receive a copy, provided that you have completed the required steps in the workflow.
We kindly ask your home university to accept the Global Office certificate, as it contains all relevant information. If your university requires its own form, we can exceptionally sign your home university's document.
Start of the Mobility
Your mobility period begins on the arrival date stated on your travel document.
If you arrive before the official start of the semester, the mobility period can begin at the earliest on:
End of the Mobility
Your mobility period normally ends at the end of the lecture period:
We can only issue a certificate extending into March or August/September if you can demonstrate that your presence in Frankfurt was required beyond the lecture period (e.g. examinations during the lecture-free period). In this case, please provide appropriate proof in your workflow.
Important Information
The certificate of attendance confirms your period of academic presence at our university. It does not certify your personal departure date or periods in which you may already have returned to your home country to work on a written assignment.
If your last examination is a written assignment, you may be required to prove with your travel document that you were still in Frankfurt when completing it.
Students at the Faculty of Medicine:
Students at the Faculty of Medicine should use the "Participation Certificate" issued by the faculty's International Office (Auslandsbüro) as proof of attendance. Before leaving for your home country, you need to dis-enroll (exmatrikulieren) from the university. You need to upload the necessary application yourself in the online portal Goethe-Campus. All necessary information regarding dis-enrollment can be found on the website of the Student Registration Office.
You will receive detailed information on what to do before moving out directly from the Studierendenwerk (Student Services).
Please note the following important information:
Approx. eight weeks after the end of the rental contract, your deposit will be returned by the Studentenwerk. Any costs for existing claims or liabilities will be subtracted from the deposit. If you have any questions, please contact the Studierendenwerk directly: wohnen@swffm.de.
Attention! Very important!
Please remember to give notice of departure at the Frankfurt Citizens' Office (Bürgeramt) before leaving Frankfurt.
The de-registration is very important, among other things, for the end of the health insurance. Without de-registration, if - at a later point in time - you come back to Germany for another study period or stay, you might be charged for health insurance fees retrospectively. Therefore, in your own best interest, please de-register at the residents' registration office of your place of residence.
You need to deregister at the Frankfurt Citizens' Office (Bürgeramt) before leaving Frankfurt, within two weeks after moving out of your apartment. Possible at the earliest one week before moving out. Just like you did after your arrival when registering your address, you can make an appointment with the Bürgeramt to de-register. Alternatively, you can send a written deregistration (can be found on the Frankfurt Citizens' Office website). Confirmation will be sent by post to the address of your choice.
