Master's Thesis

Supervision

Students choose their own supervisor, based on their interests. Master's theses can be supervised by professors from the departments 13, 14, and 15.

Finding a topic

Together with their supervisor, students agree on a topic for the master's thesis. As part of their thesis, students become a part of the different research groups. A master's thesis supervised by an external supervisor (e.g. at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysics) is possible by agreement with the supervisor and needs approval from the examination office.

Registration

The master's thesis must be registered at the examination office using the registration form. After that, students have six months to finalize their thesis.

Submission

After completing their master's thesis, students must submit three hard copies and a digital copy (on CD or USB drive) to the examination office. The thesis must be accompanied by a declaration of independence in which they confirm that they have completed the thesis using only the indicated resources (including AI tools).
