Which prerequisites do I need?

To enroll in the master’s program in biophysics, a bachelor’s degree in biophysics or a related field (such as physics, chemistry, biology) is required. If you hold a degree in a related field, admission may be subject to certain conditions, as applications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please refer to the examination regulations for more detailed information.

Which language skills do I need?

The master's degree program in biophysics offers courses in German and English. Therefore, students should have a sufficient command of both languages. For German, students must demonstrate a DSH-2 level (which is typically achieved with a German Abitur). For English, students must demonstrate a B2 level (CEFR).

How do I enroll?

Applications for the master's program are submitted online via the application portal "uni-assist". If you hold a bachelor’s degree in biophysics from Goethe University, you do not need to apply via uni-assist. Please contact the examination office for details on the simplified application process.

Are there any introductory events?

At the start of the master’s program, there is a one-hour introductory session. It usually has a spot on the first day of classes for the semester. In the week before lectures start, the physics student council organizes information sessions for first-year students. Master’s students are also welcome to attend.
