Course content and focus areas

The one-year master's program builds on the four-year bachelor's program. It provides advanced academic education in Greek philology, which is generally oriented toward classical antiquity studies and can serve as an academic qualification for various careers. The program aims to give students a deeper understanding of ancient culture through exemplary topics. Special attention is given to the cultural-historical connections between Greco-Roman antiquity and subsequent periods of European culture. This field is closely related to other disciplines within classical antiquity studies but is distinct in its primarily linguistic and literary perspective and its specific methods, which also connect it to other linguistic and literary disciplines. The master's program particularly prepares students for further academic qualification.
