Deregistration and Withdrawal from Re-Registration

Deregistration marks the end of your time at our university—whether it’s after successfully earning your degree, transferring to another university, or taking a break from your studies. We’re here to make the process as simple and straightforward as possible. This includes withdrawing from re-registration if you’ve already signed up for the new semester but want your deregistration to take effect during the current or previous semester. We’ve compiled all the key deadlines and steps for you in one place, so you can move forward with confidence.

Repayment of contributions

If you have made payments to Goethe University Frankfurt, such as for the semester fee, guest auditor program, or a new Goethe Card, and they were incorrect, excessive, or duplicated, you can request a repayment.

To request a repayment, please send us an email at sli@uni-frankfurt.de with the completed application for repayment and proof of the bank transfer for the amount to be refunded. The proof should include details such as the account holder’s name and IBAN, the recipient account IBAN, the amount, the payment reference, and the transfer date.

Important to note: Please only submit a repayment application if you mistakenly transferred money to Goethe University Frankfurt—for example, if you overpaid the semester fee and have a credit balance. You can also use the repayment application for refunds related to an application for matriculation that did not proceed, an overpaid guest auditor fee, or fees for reissuing a Goethe Card.
