Through the study of the subject "German" as part of the First State Examination for teaching at middle and secondary schools, students are prepared to academically explore and address complex questions in the fields of linguistics, literature studies—including children's and young adult literature—and the didactics of German language and literature. They gain both subject-specific and teaching-related expertise needed to teach German at middle and secondary schools.
