This program provides the theoretical and practical foundations needed for teaching English at high schools. The English field of study covers the English language, as well as English and American literature, culture, society, and history. It also includes literature from other countries where English-language works have been produced. A key focus is on how to effectively teach these topics to students, drawing on insights from English language and literature didactics and language teaching research.

This degree program has restricted admission (NC) within the university. Admission is determined through a process where 20% of the spots are allocated based on waiting time and 80% based on the average grade of your higher education entrance qualification. Waiting time refers to the period between completing your high school diploma and applying for the program (excluding any time spent studying).
For this degree program, an aptitude test is required. If you choose a degree program or subject that requires an aptitude test, you’ll need to register directly with the respective department.

One of these language certificates must first be recognized and approved by the IEAS.
The proof of passing the language test must not be older than two years at the time of application. Exceptions may be granted by the IEAS administration in justified cases.
The IEAS will provide a letter confirming a B2 level of English proficiency. This letter must be submitted along with your application documents to the Registrar’s Office, or at the latest, during matriculation. Enrollment in additional degree programs required to achieve your desired qualification remains unaffected.
If you pass the aptitude test, you’ll receive confirmation from the relevant department stating that you’ve successfully completed the test.
