The professional development of employees in administrative and technical areas is supported by a wide range of equality-oriented services.
Here you will find counseling and consulting, the newsletter "GleichstellungsImpulse" (German) as well as materials, events, networks, and other points of contact.
The university is especially keen to encourage girls to study mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology and offers special programmes in these subjects.
The Gender Equality Officer acts in an advisory capacity in equal opportunities-oriented structural and development planning as well as in all personnel decisions at Goethe University. The aim is to work closely with the Equal Opportunities Office to support the establishment of gender-equitable and anti-discriminatory structures and processes at the university, to develop a gender-equitable academic and organisational culture and to promote the individual potential of underrepresented genders in particular. She supports the university in updating and implementing the Equal Opportunities Action Plan and the Gender Equality & Diversity Action Plans (GEDAP) of the faculties.
In cases of gender-based or sexualized discrimination and violence, Annemarie Eifler is the direct point of contact for employees, while the Anti-Discrimination Center is the point of contact for students.
In coordination with the Gender Equality Officer, the Faculty Gender Equality Officers work towards the implementation of equality in their respective areas. They are elected by the women of the respective faculty or central unit for a term of office of two years and, on behalf of the Gender Equality Officer, perform tasks and exercise participation rights, for example in committee work, appointment and recruitment procedures.
Gender Equality monitoring is indispensable in order to be able to speak about equality in an informed way at the university and to make data-based decisions.
This applies to both the planning and evaluation of structural measures and funding activities: Where is there progress, where is there stagnation? How does this compare to universities nationwide? Where can we do better?
