For pupils and educators

The department of physics offers a variety of programs designed to inspire young people and to explore the fascinating world of physics. Find out more here.

School Partnerships

As part of the school partnership program, the department provides teachers and students with extensive resources and expertise, helps with organizing exciting project days, lab visits, and lectures, and assists with conducting experiments.

Are you interested in a school partnership? Julia Sammet is happy to answer your questions.

Goethe Student Labs Physics

The Goethe Student Lab Physics and the Goethe Student Lab Radioactivity and Radiation are outreach programs for schools of all types in the Frankfurt region and beyond. Here, pupils can conduct experiments on their own in addittion to their physics lessons.

In the student labs, young researchers can experience physics firsthand. Under expert guidance, they conduct exciting experiments that let them explore various physical phenomena. The student labs offer an ideal supplement to classroom instruction and promote a practical understanding of theoretical concepts.

More information can be found here (Student Lab Physics) and here (Radioactivity and Radioation).

Pre-College Program

For particularly gifted high school students, the department of physics offers a pre-college program. As part of this program, students can attend regular university courses and earn ECTS credits. The pre-college program encourages talented students and prepares them for future university studies. Participants gain an initial insight into everyday university life and can develop their skills in an academic environment.

Are you interested in the pre-college program? Julia Sammet is here to answer your questions.

Masterclass in Particle Physics

Exciting insights into the world of particle physics are possible through the masterclass offered by the "Netzwerk Teilchenwelt". Undergraduate and graduate students from Prof. Henner Büsching’s research group visit schools to talk about their research. Together with the students, they conduct analyses using original data from the ALICE particle accelerator at CERN.

More information and the registration form can be found here.

Other Outreach Programs involving Physics

Night of Science
Exciting lectures, experiments, and guided tours covering physics and natural sciences are part of the annual Night of Science at the Riedberg Campus.

Girls’ Day / Boys’ Day
We invite girls and boys to experience physics firsthand: in interactive workshops, they can build rockets, experiment with nanomotors, and learn about potential study programs.

MainStudy
The MainStudy College Fair offers insights into physics degree programs. During this event, members of the department will give short presentations, be available at information booths, and offer lab tours. Visitors will have the opportunity to speak directly with physics students about any questions they may have regarding the programs.

Brückenschlagen
The “Brückenschlagen” project organizes school presentations and science days at Frankfurt schools. Researchers present current research topics and engage in discussions with the students.

Kinder-Uni
The department of physics regularly participates in the Frankfurt Kids' University with exciting lectures such as “How Do You Build an Atom?”

Discovery Days ("Schnuppertage")
As part of the discovery days, students can get to know the university and experience regular classes.
