Through the study of German as a teaching subject, culminating in the First State Examination for teaching at middle and secondary schools, students are equipped to academically explore and address complex topics in linguistics, literature—including children's and young adult literature—and the didactics of German language and literature. They gain both subject-specific and teaching-related expertise needed to teach German at middle and secondary schools.
