The program provides the academic and subject-specific teaching foundations for pursuing a teaching credential in English for middle and secondary schools. The English field of study focuses on the English language, as well as English and American literature, culture, society, and history. It also includes literature from other countries where English-language works have been produced. A key emphasis is placed on how to effectively teach these topics to students, drawing on insights from English language and literature didactics and language teaching research.
