When Transparency Changes Creativity

New transparency requirements for AI-generated content have been in force across the European Union since August 2, 2026. As major AI providers develop technical solutions to make the origins and creation of digital content traceable, a new study involving Goethe University Frankfurt examines a largely overlooked side effect of this push for transparency: what does labelling content as AI-generated actually do to human creativity?

For the past three weeks, students in Hesse have been back in their classrooms—and soon, they might find themselves in the largest lecture hall at Goethe University: The 23rd Frankfurt Children’s University will take place on the Westend Campus from Monday, September 7 to Thursday, September 10, 2026, each day at 4:00 p.m. in the Lecture Hall Center.

Joint Statement: Hessian Higher Education Institutions Criticize Planned Changes to the Hessian Climate Protection Act

Hessian universities, universities of applied sciences (HAWs) and art academies are criticizing planned changes to the Hessian Climate Protection Act.
