For the past three weeks, students in Hesse have been back in their classrooms—and soon, they might find themselves in the largest lecture hall at Goethe University: The 23rd Frankfurt Children’s University will take place on the Westend Campus from Monday, September 7 to Thursday, September 10, 2026, each day at 4:00 p.m. in the Lecture Hall Center.

Hessian universities, universities of applied sciences (HAWs) and art academies are criticizing planned changes to the Hessian Climate Protection Act. In a joint statement addressed to the Hessian Ministry for the Environment and the Hessian Ministry for Higher Education and Research, they warn against a planned weakening of binding climate protection targets in Hesse, which would also affect higher education institutions.

The Goethe Study Experience Program (GStEP) enters the 2026/27 winter semester with an expanded academic offering. The program is designed for exchange students from Goethe University’s international partner universities, and provides an academic introduction to Goethe University, Frankfurt and some of the intellectual traditions that have shaped both the city and Europe.
