Semen facilitates infection with Monkeypox virus

Monkeypox virus used to be transmitted predominantly from animals to humans. In recent years, however, new virus variants have become increasingly capable of spreading from person to person. Researchers at Goethe University and Universitätsmedizin Frankfurt have now found that seminal fluid facilitates the uptake of monkeypox virus into cells.

23rd Frankfurt Children’s University: From Salty Money, Deep Sleep, Social Networks, and Thirsty Plants

For the past three weeks, students in Hesse have been back in their classrooms—and soon, they might find themselves in the largest lecture hall at Goethe University: The 23rd Frankfurt Children’s University will take place on the Westend Campus from Monday, September 7 to Thursday, September 10, 2026, each day at 4:00 p.m. in the Lecture Hall Center.

Joint Statement: Hessian Higher Education Institutions Criticize Planned Changes to the Hessian Climate Protection Act

Hessian universities, universities of applied sciences (HAWs) and art academies are criticizing planned changes to the Hessian Climate Protection Act. In a joint statement addressed to the Hessian Ministry for the Environment and the Hessian Ministry for Higher Education and Research, they warn against a planned weakening of binding climate protection targets in Hesse, which would also affect higher education institutions.
