Center for Dental, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine
Founded in 1915, the Department of Operative Dentistry has a long tradition of internationally recognized leadership and a strong commitment to preserving natural tooth substance. Our team covers the full range of modern dentistry—from prevention and minimally invasive restorative care to endodontics, regenerative approaches, and specialized interdisciplinary treatments such as dental therapy for patients with eating disorders. Treatments are typically carried out by dental students under close supervision by experienced clinicians, ensuring both high-quality care and a strong link between research, teaching, and patient care.
Building on this mission of combining clinical training with innovative teaching, the project below focuses on enhancing the accessibility of our digital learning modules for an international audience.

Research Overview
This study focuses on translating and revising the second module ADVANCED from German to English, expanding its accessibility to an international audience.
This module is designed to teach dental students essential clinical reasoning skills related to diagnosing and treating dental pain. The goal of this project is to make these interactive, case-based modules accessible to an international audience by preparing high-quality English translations for eventual publication on our and their websites. Translation ensures semantic and cultural equivalences, enabling global learners to benefit from this resource (Cruchinho et al., 2024).
This will be realized following a structured multi-phase process that includes machine-assisted translation, multimedia integration using JPEXS, and technical testing with the Ruffle Flash emulator. Expert reviews are coordinated to ensure semantic accuracy. A pilot testing with English-speaking users of the home-university are necessary to evaluate usability and clarity.
Requirements
Research Duration of 3-6 months.
