For Supervisors

Host a GREP Student

The Goethe Research Experience Program (GREP) connects talented international students from partner universities with research opportunities at Goethe University.

As a GREP supervisor, you host an advanced Bachelor’s or Master’s student for 2–6 months, integrate them into your research group, and contribute to international academic exchange – with minimal administrative effort, as the GREP team handles accommodation, visa, enrollment, travel stipends, and insurance.

  • Gain highly motivated international students to support your research projects
  • Strengthen international collaborations and academic networks
  • Provide mentoring experience for junior researchers and PhD students
  • Contribute to talent development and identify potential Master’s or PhD candidates
  • Increase the international visibility of your research and lab
  • Enjoy minimal administrative workload – the GREP team manages logistics
  • Professors, postdocs, and academic staff at Goethe University
  • PhD candidates can co-supervise under the guidance of a faculty member
  • Supervisors must be able to define a research project and evaluate student performance
  • Define a feasible 2–6 month research project and appoint an academic advisor
  • Provide workspace, tools, and access to lab or research meetings
  • Meet weekly or biweekly to guide and monitor progress
  • Ensure safety training and clarify required skills or prerequisites
  • Support the fellow in preparing a final academic paper and oral presentation
  • Submit a short reference letter within 4 weeks of project completion
  • Assign 12–18 ECTS credits based on workload (1 ECTS ≈ 30 hours)
  • Complete the GREP Project Submission Form
  • Indicate requirements, duration (2–6 months), capacity, and intake availability
