Carolin Haša, M.Ed.

Carolin Haša grew up in Cape Town, South Africa before immigrating to Germany in 2007. She first completed a state examination for European Teacher Training (Europalehramt) for English and History at the PH Karlsruhe. She then pursued her M.Ed. at the RPTU Landau in English Studies and Philosophy. Both her Bachelor and Master's theses focussed on video game narratology with a joint cultural studies and philosophical approach. Her Master's thesis Playing your Self: video game narratives from an existentialist and neoliberalist perspective was a recipient of the Landauer Hochschulpreis for “Beste Abschlussarbeit" in 2024. Carolin's research interests include film studies, adaptation studies, historiography, and philosophy. Her primary research focus lies in game studies, specifically, philosophical concepts of the self and how these are played out in contemporary video game narratives. She is currently working on her dissertation on performativity in video games and the transcendental potential of metalepsis in video game narratives.
