Goethe-Universität — Dr. Janika Kuge

I am a geographer interested in questions of geographical (in)justice and (in)equality. Power structures, power dynamics, how they are produced and how they get challenged is the main focus of my research endeavors. Therefore state theory, legal and new cultural geographies, post/de-colonial studies, as well as migration and labor geographies are central in my projects. I joined the University of Frankfurt since October 2023. Before that, I studied Geography, German Linguistics and Literature and Philosophy at the University of Freiburg. There, I also completed my PhD titled “struggles about sanctuary policies - socio-spatial strategies in negotiation processes of US-migration politics".
