Housing in Frankfurt

Frankfurt is a popular city to live and study in – which makes the housing market very competitive, especially at the beginning of the semester.
Start looking for accommodation as early as possible – ideally before arriving in Germany.

🔑 Key Facts

  • Goethe University does not provide student housing. This is managed by Studierendenwerk Frankfurt.
  • Waiting times for dormitory rooms can be long – sometimes up to a year or more.
  • We recommend exploring alternative housing options early and informing yourself about costs, which vary by location, size, and furnishings.

Support for International Students

Furnished single rooms for non-EU students in their first semester of an English-language Master's program.

  • Applications open on August 5, 2025 at 4:00 PM (a link will be sent via email).
  • One room will be available on August 1, 2025 – if interested, contact:

  • Location: Bad Vilbel (about 30 minutes by public transport from Frankfurt Central Station).
  • Rental period: 6 or 12 months.
