Our research is data-based, with the data
mainly coming from natural language corpora. The theoretical background of our
formal analyses is provided by Head-driven Phrase Structure Grammar (HPSG),
construction grammar approaches, and Lexical Resource Semantics (LRS).
Currently, our main
research focus is on the description and analysis of negation. Our department
is involved in four projects belonging to the Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 1629 Negation in Language and
Beyond (NegLaB):
We are also working on A frame-based approach to describing implicit arguments.
All
of our current research projects are funded by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche
Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG).
