The institute group is the student representative body of the Institute of English and American Studies. We are a point of contact for any student that needs help, for example when needing a representative in conflicts with lecturers. We also represent students in the Direktorium (directorate council of the IEAS), and we organise the orientation events for first semester students. Otherwise, we as the institute group can also organize film nights, parties, etc. often in coordination with Department 10's student council. During the semester we meet bi-weekly, on the first and third Monday of the month in room 16 (IG 3.256) at 15:30. During the semester break, we meet only on the first Monday of the month at the same time. We warmly welcome all students from our institute, whether you'd like to stop by and only have a look or whether you would like to be more heavily involved or if you'd like help with any particular problem. You can reach out to us via email (ieasgoethe@proton.me) or through our Instagram (ieas_goethe).

A general overview of the institute group functions can be found here.

The Chaincourt Theatre Company is part of Goethe University's Institut für England- und Amerikastudien (IEAS) and is based in Frankfurt am Main.  The company is made up of students, alumni, and staff associated with the IEAS.  Since 1983, the group has been headed by one of the lecturers in the practical-language section of the Institute. Prior to 1991, the company went under the name of IEAS Theatre.

The Chaincourt Theatre Company's mandate is to bring anglophone dramatic art and culture to Frankfurt audiences while offering an opportunity to university students to enhance their command of English and knowledge of the English-speaking world.  Since the mid-1970's, the Institute's theatre group has produced at least one play every term.

The IEAS Literary Journal is designed to foster creative writing in English. Goethe University students and alumni are welcome to submit original short stories, poems, or literary nonfiction in English for publication in the journal. We encourage students who participate in the creative writing workshops held throughout the academic year to submit their work to the journal. The annual submission deadline is announced during the winter semester.

Current students in their 3rd semester or later may serve as journal editors, responsible for selection, editing, and layout. Participating in editing the IEAS Literary Journal may strengthen applications for internships or study abroad. Students interested in gaining editorial experience may submit a short application (200 words in English) to the "IEAS Literary Journal Editors" at ieasliteraryjournal@gmail.com no earlier than October 1 of the Winter Semester each year - please see QIS for further, specific information as to the application process and requirements.
Students may receive 2 credit points for their work as editor.

The newest editions of the Literary Journal are available for purchase at Script & Kopie.
