Jarula M. I. Wegner
|Jarula M. I. Wegner majored in German, English and Chinese studies at Goethe University Frankfurt (Germany), with stays at Jiaotong University Xi’an (China) and the University of the West Indies St. Augustine (Trinidad and Tobago). He received a B.A. in Chinese Studies and a M.A. in English Studies from Goethe University in 2015. In spring term 2016 he is Visiting Scholar at Columbia University (USA). He is research assistant in the DFG project “Migration and Transcultural Memory: Literature, Film and the Social Life of Media” at Goethe University and currently working on the PhD project “Caribbean Carnival and the Production of Transcultural Memory: Literature, Media, Performances”. His research interests include but are not limited to concepts of memory, transculturality, postcoloniality, world literature and gender theory. Furthermore, he is co-speaker of the Interdisciplinary Memory Studies Group at the Frankfurt Humanities Research Centre.
