The IEAS is proud to announce a new edited volume on “Popular Series in English Language Education” by Jan-Erik Leonhardt and Britta Viebrock of the Department of Teaching English. The publication is aimed at (future) English teachers who want to learn about integrating series into their classrooms – a format that is highly popular among learners. Introductory chapters explore the specificities of series, define competence objectives, and identify key teaching methods. In the subsequent chapters, experts from the field present selected series from various genres and aiming at different age groups. Some examples included in the volume are The Healing Powers of Dude, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Never Have I Ever, and Dear White People. Each chapter contains in-depth analyses of the series presented as well as practical teaching suggestions. Additional teaching materials are available online. Members of Goethe University have access to the online version of the edited volume through our library system. Print copies and the ebook are also available via Narr publishing here.
