Abteilung Public Health des Instituts für Arbeitsmedizin, Sozialmedizin und Umweltmedizin
Dieser Institutsbereich ist einer der wenigen hessischen universitären Einrichtungen, der sich mit dem Gebiet Public Health befasst.
Dabei liegt ein traditioneller Schwerpunkt innerhalb von Infektions- und Lungenerkrankungen. Beispielsweise wurden bereits im Jahr 2005 Arbeiten zum Thema Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) Coronavirus (SARS-CoV) durch Institutsmitarbeiter publiziert, die in enger Beziehung zu SARS-CoV2 und die COVID-10 Pandemie stehen.
Ein weiterer Schwerpunkt bezieht sich auf Prävention und Bewegung. Ein interdisziplinärer Institutsausschuss, vor allem bestehend aus MedizinerInnen unterschiedlicher Fachrichtungen, BiologInnen sowie SportwissenschaftlerInnen, befasst sich regelmäßig mit aktuellen Themen der öffentlichen Gesundheitspflege. Dabei werden sowohl kommunal-regionale, nationale, europäische und globale Public Health Gebiete behandelt.
