Aphrodite Anastasiadis-Pool - Scientific Recruitment Consultant

After completing my PhD at the University of Melbourne, Australia, I joined the group of Prof. Harald Schwalbe as a post-doctoral fellow where I studied membrane proteins using Photo-CIDNP.

Upon returning to Melbourne, mid 2004, I joined Kelly Scientific Resources, the world’s largest scientific staffing company, as a Scientific Recruitment Consultant. My work involves providing Laboratory Staffing for a range of scientific disciplines-Analytical Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology/Cellular Biology and Genetics. Every candidate, from the technician to the executive, undergoes a comprehensive screening process which includes interviewing (technical and behavioural), reference checks and verification of academic degrees. A short list is then created for our clients.

It is my job to find the right “fit” for each role and to basically liaise between the candidate and the client. I enjoy my new role because it allows me to utilize my scientific knowledge, “talk science” and build long term relationships with both candidates and clients.
