Dr. Yuri Ko

Dr. Yuri Ko is a lecturer in Korean Studies at Goethe University Frankfurt. She majored in Modern German Literature and Comparative Literature Studies (BA/MA at Hankuk Uni. of Foreign Studies in Seoul, PhD at TU Dresden); published her doctoral thesis ‘Cultural Transfer: The Korean Translations of Rainer Maria Rilke’s novel The Notebooks of Malte Laurids Brigge and the Korean Novel Seung-U Lee’s A Midday Gaze’ (2021) through a doctoral scholarship from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. She is currently working on her habilitation research about the literary representations of borders in Germany and Korea. And she translated Seung-U Lee’s novels into German, A Midday Gaze (2009) and Kangtang (2019), sponsored by Daesan-Foundation and the Korean Literature Translation Institute. She is also interested in the migrant literature in Germany as a member of the Researcher-Network for Migrant Literature (Thelem).
