Research focus and interest
- philosophy of Jewish education
- educational approaches of Franz Rosenzweig
- Martin Buber
- Emmanuel Levinas
- Joseph B. Soloveitchik
Current research project
The project aims at examining the educational approaches of four Jewish philosophers - Franz Rosenzweig, Martin Buber, Emmanuel Levinas, Joseph B. Soloveitchik – and seeking out the relevant insights for coping with challenges in the educational system caused by globalization and information revolution. This objective is planned to be achieved by both close textual analyzing of the original works of the four philosophers and related secondary studies on the educational theory and practices of them, through perspectives of both Jewish philosophy and the philosophy of education, while engaging dialogues with the currently prevailing educational theories. On this basis, some reflections and some suggestions will be made for the improvement of the educational systems, especially in Germany, Israel and China, where the researcher lives and lived.
